You will have the chance to develop your skills, knowledge and understanding of the Performing Arts. Along the way, there will be lots of opportunities for you to show off your talents—and plenty of time for you to have fun while learning important life skills!
SO WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Studying Performing Arts does not mean that you will necessarily become an actor or a singer. We aim to teach many transferable skills, including self-confidence, the ability to work both individually and as part of a team, problem solving and creativity.
All of these are essential skills for any job that involves working with people — which includes almost everything!
Alongside the practical skills we also look at the core subjects of Maths (budget writing, ticket sales and accounting), English (marketing and publicity, job opportunities) and ICT (box office, desktop publishing).
The BTEC course is worth 4 x GCSE grades A* to C, and is a double option. The qualification is made up of 6 units.
We have been running the BTEC course at The Vyne Community School since 2002 and we are proud to have a 100% pass rate. Many of our past students continue to work with the school and all say that they have benefited from taking this option.
So, is this the course for you?
Why not choose the BTEC 1st in Performing Arts and see where it can take you . . .

'Vyne Idol' is a competition that runs throughout the Spring term.
It is open to all the singers in the school and we usually get more than 50 people taking part in the opening rounds.
In each audition, singers are given different tasks and new songs to perform, until there are only five left.
These five singers go on to take part in the Grand Final, in which we compete against the five best singers from Testbourne Community School.
The venue alternates between Testbourne and The Vyne each year, and is due to be held here in 2012.
We have a strong tradition of vocal excellence at The Vyne and we are always delighted with the performance of all our finalists!
